Therapeutic Counselling services are covered by many extended health care plans. Coverage can vary, it’s important to check your individual plan details to confirm whether services provided by a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor are included.
Direct billing is available for most providers ie: Sunlife, MINES, Canada Life, Green Shield, Pacific Blue Cross, Manulife)
How do I pay for my sessions?
3
Please note that Carla Royal Counselling and Intrinsic Health Whistler operate as separate businesses and maintain separate billing systems. Counselling invoices and receipts will be issued directly through Carla Royal Counselling. Payment can be made by e-transfer or credit card, and a valid credit card is required to be kept on file.
If the cost of counselling is a barrier, you may be eligible for reduced-fee counselling through the Counselling Assistance Program offered by Whistler Community Services Society. Please contact them directly to learn more about eligibility and available support.
What is your cancellation policy?
4
Life happens—I get it. I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Appointments cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged the full session fee.
Because I work with many different learning styles (and busy brains!), you'll receive multiple appointment reminders unless you let me know you'd prefer otherwise. My goal is to make attending therapy as easy and stress-free as possible.
I work with families AND their kids.
Often the fastest way to help a child is to support the people who love and care for them
Kids are part of a larger system, so I support both children and the adults who care for them. I help families understand behaviour, build stronger connections, and create practical changes that make life feel a little easier at home.
Sometimes that means meeting with a child directly, and sometimes it means working with parents and caregivers—the approach depends on what will best support the family as a whole.

Do you work with kids?
Couples therapy is one of my favourite parts of this work.
There's something pretty incredible about helping two people stop having the same argument for the 147th time and finally understand what's actually happening underneath it.

Do you work with couples?
Do you offer same-day sessions, or drop-in appointments?
7
Definitely! If I am available, I'm happy to accommodate same-day sessions.
Sometimes you don't need a whole life overhaul—you just need a place to untangle your thoughts, get some support, or give your mental health a little tune-up.
Whether life has thrown you a curveball or you simply need someone to talk things through with, same-day appointments may be available.
Please note that these sessions are not intended for crisis situations. If you're experiencing a mental health emergency or are concerned about your immediate safety, please contact 911, visit your nearest emergency department, or access local crisis services.
